More than 75 irrigation tanks in Vanni District have gone completely dry due to the prevailing drought causing much difficulty to the people in the area. Pix by Romesh Madushanka.

The only remedy to recurring drought is to turn Mahaweli to Kilinochchi irranamadu Tank and to strengthen the lagoon scheme proposed by Engineer Arumugam.

China and India could help Sri-Lanka in this gigantic work.
