Banana lorry in collision with tipper

A lorry transporting a load of bananas from Embilipitiya was involved in a collision with a tipper at Ingiriya on the Ratnapura – Panadura road causing serious injuries to the driver and another person in the lorry. The driver’s wrist had been seriously injured.

The injured were admitted to the Ingiriya hospital and transferred to the Horana Base Hospital. They were later transferred to the National Hospital in a critical condition. Meanwhile a car transporting a group of Buddhist monks to Panadura ran out of control and rammed into the rear of the lorry. Pix by Kusal Chamath
