The first COVID-19 treatment centre for Buddhist monks donated by a leading personality in Kandy was handed over to the Ministry of Health today with the distinguished participation of the Anunayake Theras of the Malwatte Chapter.
Managing Director of the Devon Group of Companies Gamini Weeraratne had provided the Devon Rest building to house the treatment Centre with accommodation for 50 Buddhist monks at a time.
Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa Nilanga Dela had taken step to supply beds and an ambulance for the treatment centre. Basnayake Nilake of the Vishnu Devala Mahen Ratwatta is among other Good Samaritans who contributed for this worthy cause. The treatment centre would function under the direct supervision of the Kandy National Hospital , Peradeniya teaching hospital and Kandy Medical Association. Pix by Chamil Rupasinghe
