The world famous orignal Dakar Rally (formerly known as Paris-Dakar Rally- Senegal/Dakar) is no longer held in North Africa after Islamic rebels attacked contestants in 2008. Since then It has been held in South America in Argentina/Chile, but still called by its original name the 'Dakar Rally'.
