A total of 23 employees attached to the Colombo Dockyard PLC have tested positive for COVID-19 as of today, the company announced.
The COVID-19 positive cases were identified following 600 PCR tests carried out and the results of 900 PCR tests conducted on October 19 and 20 are pending.
Colombo Dockyard said that all infected employees are under medical care and the first contacts are under quarantine as per health guidelines.
“The entire yard has been disinfected and operations have been limited only for essential service from October 17 onwards to facilitate further health screening and sanitization of premises.
“Detailed contact tracing, screening, isolation of immediate contacts are continuing under direct guidance of health authorities,” the company said in a statement released to the media.
Colombo Dockyard said that required steps have been taken to contain any further community transmission within the yard and among other stakeholders.
Limited operations are to resume from October22 onwards with necessary clearance from health & other authorities.
Furthermore, the company shared that dedicated hotel accommodation and transportation arrangements would be provided for employees to avoid any threat of transmission to the local community.
