UberINTERCITY goes live today for multiple outstation routes following a successful six-month pilot project from Colombo to Galle launched in December 2017.
In an interview with Mirror Business, Uber General Manager for South India and Sri Lanka Christian Freese said, “Given the phenomenal success, we are launching multiple outstation routes from tomorrow so that the riders can enjoy the convenience of booking an Uber to almost any part of Sri Lanka, including popular tourist destinations like Kataragama, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Nuwara Eliya, Dambulla, Sri Pada, Kandy, Bentota, Jaffna, Pasikuda, Trincomalee and Arugam Bay.”
Freese noted that Uber customers, including tourists, will be able to travel almost anywhere with a push of a button on their phones.
Freese also announced that UberHIRE, a time-based service, would be launched later this summer in Sri Lanka.
UberHIRE is already launched in India and it provides the opportunity to the Uber users to engage in various activities such as shopping, back-to-back meeting, etc. while keeping the same cab for 12 hours with multiple stops.
