The Finance Minister has appointed retired Major General G.A. Chandrasiri as a Non-Executive Director to the board of State-owned Bank of Ceylon (BOC) with effect from January 8, 2021.

Major General Chandrasiri is the current Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited.
Previously he held the position of Governor of Northern Province from 2009 to 2015.
During his military career of 35 years, Major General Chandrasiri held a number of key command and staff appointments in the Sri Lanka Army. At the final stage of his military career, he was appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.
In recognition of his service, he was awarded a number of medals and decorations including Rana Wickrama Padakkama, Vishista Seva Vibushanaya and Uththama
Sewa Padakkama.
He is a graduate from the National Defence College, India and Defence Services Command and Staff College, Bangladesh. At present, he is reading for his Ph.D at the General Sir John Kotelewala Defence University.
