The Finance Ministry today said vehicle permit holders who haven’t been unable to import vehicles due to import restrictions, can purchase unregistered vehicles already imported to the country from registered vehicle importers/sellers at market price minus the tax concession entitled for such permits.

The Finance Ministry said the registered importers/sellers of vehicles who acquire permits form permit holders by selling them vehicles at reduced prices will be given the tax concessions entitled for such permits when they import vehicles in future.

Refer the No.01/2020 Trade and Investment Policy Circular (amended) of August 28, 2018 published on the Finance Ministry website for further details.

Just get rid of this permit system and anyone can buy vehicles at market price. This permit method is unfair to ordinary people.

Unless an officer cannot perform his official duties without a vehicle, no tax free permit should be issued. Every year billions of foreign exchange is wasted with no benefit to the country.

Hon. Prez should stop permit scheme to the govt. sector employees including doctors. These permits are sold to private businessmen who make profits in excess of Rs. 4.0Mn on each vehicle depriving the govt. Billions in tax. Its a waste of forex.
