Woman killed in accident

A 55-year-old woman was killed and her husband was injured when a navy bus collided head on with a three-wheeler at 162-milepost on Kantale-Tricomalee Road early this morning, police said.

The injured is receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Kantale Hospital.

The bus belonging to the navy had been transporting navy personnel who were on leave, to Colombo from Trincomalee when the accident occurred.
Navy soldier who was at the wheel was taken into custody.

it is time that some serious action is taken to educate military drivers that they also need to obey road rules. Even if you drive in Colombo you can observe that military drivers are the most indiciplined next to three wheeler drivers. They drive through Red lights dont stop at pedestrian crossings absolutely no lane driving 99% of the time and absolutely no respect to parking rules.

The drivers of the forces have the sanction of the officers who travel in these vehicles obviously the rot starts with the top and will end only the officers and 'gentlemen' of rank discipline their drivers.
