The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) yesterday urged the government to reveal details of the Super Luxury Tourist Resort Facilities and Related Services mentioned in the gazette presented to parliament on Tuesday regarding the mix development projects.
It asked how these facilities were different from gambling and casino centres.
“The previous gazette issued in August mentioned a mix development project -- a resort with a casino and gambling facilities. The government took a step back after it received a negative response from the people. But now they are attempting to do the very same by disguising the process,” JVP central committee member and provincial council candidate Nalinda Jayatissa told a news conference today.
He said the government had surreptitiously replaced the sentence that mentions casinos and gambling in the previous gazette with Super Luxury Tourist Resort Facilities and Related Services confusing the public. (Lahiru Pothmulla and Sanath Desmond)
