The UNP has decided to suspend talks with the government on constitutional reforms claiming that the government was using the talks to draw opposition members to the government side.
A top UNP source said that the talks between UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and President Mahinda Rajapaksa held recently on constitutional reforms, though successful, will not continue further.
The UNP alleges that the government had roped in opposition members Prabha Ganeshan and P. Digambaram by using the talks as a tool and is now attempting to seek the support of more opposition members in order to secure the two thirds majority in Parliament. (Daily Mirror online)

Ranil shows that he is no leader, and very foolish,is unable to fathom the shrewed moves of this cunning president
Rawana Saturday, 07 August 2010 05:58 AM
This is Ranil. He knows how to handle matters in gentleman way. If he did not had talks with MR, government would have blamed opposition for not supporting for a solution.

RW as usual lost to MR!
Senior Citizen Saturday, 07 August 2010 05:31 AM
I don't want credit, but everyone other than Ranil & some stupid UNPers knew this outcome. They only wanted to draw attention from crisis in UNP against Ranil. It backfired.
Arun Saturday, 07 August 2010 05:05 AM

Saliya Wickramasuriy Saturday, 07 August 2010 04:30 AM
