UNICEF Regional Director for South Asia, Ms. Karin Hulshof commended Sri Lankan government’s programs and efforts to uplift the welfare of rural communities, during her meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday.
She had praised the government’s commitment to solve issues faced by the children, particularly in reducing child malnutrition and improving the health care of rural children.
Ms. Hulshof and her team are visiting Sri Lanka as part of an official tour that aims to look in to the development projects undertaken in the South Asian Region to uplift the welfare of the people.
The meeting with the President yesterday was also attended by Representative of UNICEF Sri Lanka, Mr. Reza Hossaini, Secretary to the President - Mr. Lalith Weeratunga and Dr. Nihal Jayathilake - Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Eric Elayappaarachchi - Secretary to the Ministry of Child Development and Women's Affairs .
I'm sure the anti-Sri Lankan commenters will find this hard to swallow and find something negative to say. To them I say.....shove it up as far as it will go!
