Their little children may be happier now. This is fine example where, children have to protected by state when parents under go difficulties.Difficulties can be one or both send to jail, one or both get hospitalized, one or both met death due to accidents, one or both get separated, one or both moved to far away for employment, one or both find difficulties to earn a living etc. These happened to many. Then it is the time that social service department, child and women protection authority,Samurdi Authority ,priests and nuns of temples or probation departments or other through court order has to step in to protect the innocent children to find their shelter and education continued un interrupted.Hope country will solid the mechanism to protect all voiceless children no matter they are rich or poor .Hope Wimal and politicians like others will work hard to bring relief to many children by re- examining of cases of parent/s isolated from children.

At Kathie, If this is an ordinary citizen, in the first place, she will not get arrested. If you can, please name one person in this land, who has not done up fake document in his/her lifetime!!!

    Bala Friday, 27 February 2015 02:01 PM

Sad day for us who supported Yahapalanaya. This couple in crime should be behind bars for a long time. The hubby boasts that his wife is not arrested, then cries foul after arrest and then says revenge. What hypocrisy - win both ways

I buy a kabal 18 sri Maruthi for a couple of 100 thousand and I am called up by the Inland Revenue Department to explain how I got the money. I wonder why Inland Revenue Department turns a blind eye towards these mega fraudsters.

    Deen Friday, 27 February 2015 02:57 PM

DIPLOMATIC Passport 15,000/= and for an ordinary passport 15 or 150 should be the maximum.

Oh My Lanka Friday, 27 February 2015 03:21 PM

I am afraid from today more fraudsters will get second IDs and passports to engage in their illegal activities. They know fore sure even if they get caught they could get away with a 15,000 fine a and day or two in the slammer.

    AMMI Friday, 27 February 2015 03:27 PM

I am not surprised at all, cos i was expecting this exactly the way it would happened, and it has. Few episodes of a real Drama. This is the way to go the MY3 Yahapalanaya.

No No our judiciary is pure and clean like 28 karat gold and sale-able and can be bought by anybody

    johan Friday, 27 February 2015 04:47 PM

Judiciary in SL is like Kangaroo courts with jungle laws. For this the present regime is not responsible. There are lots of loop holes in our judiciary system which the newminister of justice must put it right, once the independentcommission is established.Otherwise no point of having minister for justice, like RaufHakeem,G.L.Peiris nothing done during their tenure.

    johan Friday, 27 February 2015 04:50 PM

I find most of the remarks above are cockeyed withoutany common sense.Govt. has nothing to do with thejudiciary system

wimal said this , the entire fault was with the department of registration of persons and kachcheri as they have not corrected the error in ID made by DRP even though sashi requested. another bath by my3 government

    Nims Friday, 27 February 2015 12:26 PM

Rs 15,000/? Absolutely too much from a poor woman like her

Just Another Citizen Friday, 27 February 2015 12:26 PM

What a load of rubbish. Just as we all thought, get arrested and then get out on bail.... Amazing

    Merv Friday, 27 February 2015 12:29 PM

So the rules have changed. Violation of Immigration rules no longer non bailable . All the offenders now can obtain bail by sighting this case here after. Congratulations Judiciary or judges who always sets a precedence to other judges to do more injustice to the law abiding citizens by allowing bail to cheaters, those who steal and embezzle , cheque fraudsters and so on. Some judges stinks as much as some lawyers.

    Ram Friday, 27 February 2015 12:31 PM

For the first time as a citizen awaiting for the so called "Yahapalanaya" very disappointed. I will only agree if this was the procedure for every one who forges a passport !!!!

    Veda-mama Friday, 27 February 2015 12:48 PM

Is the application of law is common to all citizens OR does it defer depending on the category of the person??

    veda-mama Friday, 27 February 2015 12:55 PM

HOORAY !!! An encouragement to all other crooks who are awaiting anxiously to own two or more passports.

de silva Friday, 27 February 2015 12:58 PM

Only Rs.,15000.What a joke.We can now understand what the verdict will be.A fine of Rs.200

    Katie Friday, 27 February 2015 12:13 PM

Imagine if an ordinary citizen who is not known to anybody had done something like this, would he/she have got bail?? NO! instead he/she would have been behind bars, but this woman is released and now she and her husband will have the last laugh. Wonder if there is something cooking????

    Giabao Friday, 27 February 2015 01:07 PM

forging birth certificates and passports is quite common and prevalent in Sri Lanka. Many people do this to send female housemaids to middle east. I think they do this both ways - increase age if the person is underage or reduce if the person is too old. Can you remember the case of that underage girl who had death penalty. In my opinion this is not a major crime like what we have in this country

    Senator Friday, 27 February 2015 01:10 PM

If theres no mistake, R.W. had said in one of his pre-election speeches that he would not go after these people which would seem only revenge. Thats right,Let Them Go..

de silva Friday, 27 February 2015 01:14 PM

Another media says that the court has ordered this person to be present once a month.Who is correct. However we want to see her behind bars at least for the next five years.

    Prince Friday, 27 February 2015 01:22 PM

    Disgusting.

    prince Friday, 27 February 2015 01:26 PM

Disgusting. We were expecting at least one case was going well. Our expectations was for Modawasnsa also to be arrested. I assume now have we made the right choice of governing. MS

    DHAMMIKA Friday, 27 February 2015 01:31 PM

Amazing..? There is nothing to be surprised. These offences are bailable and court had to bail her out.We should have a general sense of law. However, at last, money speaks...! Why, we need to hire a good lawyer which is cost heavily. If money in hand with some knowledge, law can be manipulated. That is the truth...! God bless the poor...!

    kan Friday, 27 February 2015 01:35 PM

No, no, she was granted bail due to ill health!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ravi Friday, 27 February 2015 01:41 PM

Something is wrong with our judicial system.
