Update: Rescue Op. underway

A Joint operation was launched a short while ago by the Vavuniya police, the army and the Special Task Force to rescue three jailors who were taken hostage by a group of LTTE suspects yesterday.

Our reporter at the scene said that the Armed forces are about to storm the building and are currently making arrangements in order to initiate the resuce. People from buildings surrounding the area have been evacuated in order to proceed with the operation.The Jailors have been held hostage for over 16 hours .(Romesh Madushanka)

It is very easy to handle LTTE and other prisoners in the prison by the police. Will they able to handle politicians? In UK the priminister of that country was answering the enquiery.
