UNP Southern Provincial Council member Krishantha Pushpakumara alias ‘Raththaran’ was taken into custody today for allegedly disrupting the duty of traffic policemen in the Thalgampala area in Yakkalamulla.

The PC member had allegedly disrupted the duty of the policemen who had been diverting traffic to another location as it created a massive traffic jam along the Udugama-Yakkalamulla main road on Saturday. They were attending a wedding when the policemen had demanded the driving licence from the driver of another PC member. It is at this point that Mr. Pushpakumara had intervened.

He was arrested by the Akmeemana police on the directive of Galle SSP Vaas Gunawardena. (Supun Dias)

In Galle area this man is well known for his so called generosity by distributing money and gold to temples and devales. Generosity dwindled and his attachments to other worldly beings became the order of day.Now he is a nonety.

Government policos can do anything and get way scot-free. I am not trying justify the act of PS-Member. I am trying to pinpoint the faulty execution of law and order in this country. All these things are happening because there is no independent body that governs and monitor the proper implementation of law and order. Everything in this country is politicize to ensure election victory by hook or by crook.
