If there is press freedom in SL, Pillai comments won't be a big deal. She is saying what most in SL can't say due to fear

Very true. We must keep in mind that she is not an ordinary official but well respected and qualified lawyer who is among one of the lawyers to fight for Nelson Mandela's release. So you must know that she is spot on and follow up actions will show the results.

The High Commissioner’s observation that Sri Lanka “is showing signs of heading in an increasingly authoritarian direction” is not a political statement on her part; but a clearly evident fact to anyone observing developments in Sri Lanka in an unbiased manner. This defensive statement by the government is entirely consistent with the government's authoritarian actions, where no criticism or adverse comments against it are not tolerated and silenced.
Jagath Leanage Sunday, 01 September 2013 03:21 PM
Now every thing is bind with politics. So anybody when making statements some sort of political part is there.

Outsiders transgress their mandate or interfere with our internal matters because our government transgress their mandate vis-a-vis their citizens.
