The police have received information that around 300,000 fake ballot papers are circulating around the country and sought public support to crack down on its distribution.

Senior DIG of the police elections unit Gamini Navaratna, speaking to Daily Mirror online, said that the revelation came following the detection of 21700 fake ballot papers this week.

He said that the police are now trying to identify where the nearly 300,000 fake ballot papers are being distributed.

The police had this week detected two ballot boxes in Pettah filled with 21700 fake ballot papers which were being prepared to be transported to Puttalam.

Who ever who is doing this this is absolutely wrong....... Absolutely wrong...........
The whole government should resign including the president if this is an act of pro government movement. This is a shame to happen in a so called democratic country when both presidential candidates are asking for peoples vote to stop corruption.

Is it impossible to detect the counterfeit to the election officials even? If i is so, It is high time to introduce the electronic voting machines, everything will be in a buttons command; if there is suspicion of stuffed ballots it can be checked unchecked any number of times otherwise it will be a mole in a hill, frustrating, time consuming and embarassing to the returning officers!

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 09:47 AM

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 05:53 AM

This is how UPFA is planning to rig the election. They will try every dirty trick under the sun to alter the final result. Dear Sri Lankans, please do what ever you can do to expose, stop and discover these frauds on the 26th at voting, in transportation of boxes and during counting. It is our duty for the nation.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 06:10 AM

Can anyone expect anything else from the chinthanaya ? Will anyone forget how corrupt this election process was. The public too are responsible for this, as corrupt uneducated politicians are continuously re-elected ( from both sides ). One has to only compare the caliber and education of our politicos with those of say Singapore or Malaysia. In the very near future, in order to get a job or come up in life one would need to be a lackey of government. In short ...we have become a banana republic.

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 06:37 AM

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 07:19 AM

mass scale rigging....for the first time in the world we will see a 110% turnout...

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 07:25 AM

    Saturday, 23 January 2010 07:45 AM
