The Officer In-charge of the Deraniyagala police station N.D.Gunawardane was transferred to the Padukka police station with immediate effect, police sources said yesterday.

Sources said that the transfer was made following the recent killing of an estate superintendent in Deraniyagala.

Meanwhile, a Special Task Force camp had been established temporally in Nooriyawatta, Deraniyagala in order to maintain law and order in the area.

A former Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha chairman and several others are in CID custody over the killing of the superintendent.

Nowadays, it is mostly the Police who commit crimes. Shows the deterioration of the law and order after thugs became law makers.

At least we have some hope. Their is an IGP who has not compromised his values, yet. The CID too is to be commended. Unfortunately how long will they be able to resist the enormous intimidatory pressures.

They are the last hope for decency, ethics and morality, in a country where the majortity are subservient sycophants, to politicians and their thugs.

How many are more to go?
