N’pitiya, K’pitiya re-poll underway

By Jamila Najmuddin in NawalapitiyaThe General Elections re-poll in Nawalapitiya in the Kandy District and Kumburupitiya in the Trincomalee district is now underway. Voting will continue till 4pm this evening.
The re-poll is being conducted amidst tight security in both electorates with more than 4000 security personnel on duty in Nawalapitiya alone, elections officials said.
Speaking to Daily Mirror online this morning, head of the police elections unit DIG Gamini Navaratna said that the situation so far has been very peaceful and there are no reports of election related incidents.
Results from the re-poll in the Nawalapitiya and Kumburupitiya electorates is scheduled to be released by the respective election secretariats by midnight tonight, elections officials had said.

Who bears the expenses of re-poll??

Why should tax payers bear the cost of re-poll? There should be a method of surcharging the expenses of the re-poll from persons responsible for the election malpractices at Nawalapitya and Kumburupitiya.
