Futile exercise, knowing they cannot do this against a steam-roller majority. They should wait till the right time comes?
Jay Ranaweera Thursday, 07 October 2010 01:27 PM
RW and the jokers must resign from politics.
Mylanka Thursday, 07 October 2010 02:20 PM
No point in doing these for another alteast 20 - 30 years as the current Govrmnt anyhow going to hold 2/3 or even 9/10 majority in the parliment for the foreseable future.....

Guys..it's not about winning all the time. You need things to be on the Hanzard for recording purposes. Once there is something like this, there is a debate in the parliament and thats an opportunity to for them to raise few matters and speak on behalf of the general public about the matter. Those are some of the best practices in the parliament. It's obvious that Opposition going to lose it but the real value is, as a result of this the facts and reasons for the No-Conf is publicized to the general public. That must be the whole point behind this.

Helpless RW will be having sleepless nights in future.
Kumar Wijayasekara Friday, 08 October 2010 01:48 AM
Defeating a motion in the current paliament is obvious because all henchmen have to raise their hands and tails. It does not mean that the issues raised are not valid.
Athukorala Friday, 08 October 2010 02:58 AM
Dear our guys, Those who put comments in favor of government winning should understand one point. Most corrupted people have crossed over to government. Most of them wanted to misuse public funds for their personal gains. So as long as we hail strengthening the government and weakening opposition we dig our own grave. They will approve whatever acts which harmful to general public.
