New Kandy traffic plan

A new traffic plan has been put in place in Kandy city from tomorrow where long distance buses traveling from Kurunegala or Matale have been prohibited from traveling via Kandy city to Colombo but instead is advised to take the diversion from Katugasthota and Halwalu-awa through Peradeniya.
Buses traveling from the Good-shed bus stand to Hanguranketha and Thalathu-oya have also been advised to go through Boagmabara taking the Kandy lake road.
This measure has been taken by the Kandy Police to reduce the heavy traffic congestion in the city.
However, short distance buses traveling from Peradeniya to Kandy or Ampitiya to Kandy is permitted to use the Dalada Weediya. (Daily Mirror online)
