Glad to note that the NCPA at last has woken up in regard to school van drivers... IT is a mafia by itself. If the parents of one particular van is not satisfied with the service of a provider... they see that the parents are unable to get he services of another driver plying the same route to the same school.
I am talking thru experience.. my daughter had a few bad experiences with one driver and when i discontinued his service, he made it so difficult for me to get another driver to provide the same service. He also had threatened a few drivers who were willing to accomodate my child. I had to take my daughter personally for 12 days before I was able to get a willing driver... All this after I helped him with a 6 months advance payment coz of the delivery of his child... Ungrateful people....

It is also my view that the safety of school children is the prime responsibility of the Govt. Hence, I think it is better that C.T.B provide buses to school children instead of letting the responsibility to the private sector. Additionally all vehicles which provide transportation to school children should be painted YELLOW, like in the United States. This will enable the inspectors to spot these easily.

Exactly, why we need to spend time and money on these School Vans if we could provide safe school buses for the safety of the school children and same time the parents will be saving some bucks !

we need a concerted and sustained effort to monitor ALL drivers and ALL vehicles. There are many inexperienced drivers in buses, tuk-tuks, commercial vans, lorries etc and many of these vehicles are not roadworthy. A very visible and active Police presence also must be there. Not cops standing behind trees and lamp-posts but patrolling and monitoring.

Above 40 yeas a good age for implementation, they are matured and with sense humor and with social responsibility, so the rule age above 25 should be revoked and to be set above 40......................

AGE BARRIER MUST BE AT LEAST 30 (25 IS TOO YOUNG AND IMMATURE). PROVIDING CTB SERVICE IS A JOKE. CTB IS NOT PLYING ON ALL ROADS. MOREOVER, PARENTS CANNOT TAKE THEIR CHILDREN TO THE BUS STANDS (WHETHER RAIN OR IN HOT SUN) WAITING FOR THE CTB BUSES.
ROAD WORTHINESS OF THE SCHOOL VANS MUST BE STRICTLY MONITORED. THEY MUST BE ASKED TO PRODUCE THE VEHICLES TO THE RESPECTIVE POLICE STATIONS AT LEAST ONCE IN 3 OR 6 MONTHS FOR CLEARANCE. PAINTING OF VANS IS A GOOD SUGGESTION, SINCE IT WOULD BE VISIBLE FROM A DISTANCE.

Whenever something happens the authorites come up with new regulations and in a few weeks all will be forgotten. If the existing laws are implemented properly why wait till the next diasaster?
