A meteor shower will be visible in the skies above Sri Lanka these days, according to the Sri Lanka Astronomical Association.

The Association said that last night and tonight (December 14) were the peak days of the shower. The best time to view it would be the early hours of the morning. (Yohan Perera)

First it was the Satellite launch. Then the UFO sightings in the East coast and South. Two days ago, it was the strange object next to the sun sighted by the farmers in the South. Now the meteor shower. So many celestial events taking pace in Sri Lanka. May be even the Aliens are keen to know how things are in Sri Lanka. Who knows?

The Geminid meteor shower occurs annually and is visible from across the globe. I live in the city and was able to see 6 meteor's within 15mins but if you watch from a dark area allowing the eyes to adjust to the dark(20mins) you could spot as much as 100 per hour. Don't forget to make a wish!
