Ananthan Saturday, 23 March 2013 06:00 PM
Something big is comming up...for another riot....
shameer Saturday, 23 March 2013 04:51 PM
many disagree with the violence / aggression / bad propaganda of BBS. but why do not the govt stop this ? hope they do not want the muslims to vote for UPFA in coming elections.
Disgusted Saturday, 23 March 2013 11:18 AM
Have they got the permission of the Bodu Bala Sena?
reviewcric Saturday, 23 March 2013 07:46 AM
Well Buddha himself said the cycle of Buddhism ends every 5000 years. People have lost the true principle by praying to statues and pooja's which are the actual destruction of Buddhism.
kky Saturday, 23 March 2013 07:44 AM
Dear Ven, first educate our Sinhalese community to RESPECT other religions, or there wont be a Buddhism in the future.
Ziyard Zain Saturday, 23 March 2013 07:41 AM
Very good move, and need to have a genuine approach, which will avoid misinterpretation of Buddhism.
KALUM Saturday, 23 March 2013 07:37 AM
Simple. Just live according to Buddhist principles. Some are willing to die for Buddhism but few are willing to live by Buddhism. This applies to other religions too.
Janaki Kalansuriya Saturday, 23 March 2013 07:28 AM
Like "CLOSING THE STABLE DOORS AFTER THE HORSE HAS FLED". What took you so long?
Earnest Fernando Saturday, 23 March 2013 06:34 AM
Yes, you are true Ranjit, even i am Christian and i like Lord Buddhas teacings!
Mithraya Saturday, 23 March 2013 06:21 AM
Very Good Move. Its time to take steps to get rid of organisations and opportunists who "hide under the guise of Buddhism" and for political gains.
ellara Saturday, 23 March 2013 01:00 AM
Is it a move to eradicate other religions?
LK Saturday, 23 March 2013 06:04 AM
Timely move to protect Buddhism from extremist like BBS who are trying to destroy the great preachings of load Buddha by violence
Rata Haraka Saturday, 23 March 2013 05:58 AM
A timely move. Hope you can curtail certain groups from running amok, creating havoc and ruining the image of Buddhism and the message of peace and love preached by the Buddha.
Anura Saturday, 23 March 2013 05:42 AM
well, but can you see other minorr parties in Sri lanka doing their role disregarding religion especially muslims?
Fayad Saturday, 23 March 2013 04:30 AM
Please stop them from getting involved in politics
no one should use religion to get elected to parliament or council.
Shiyam Saturday, 23 March 2013 04:26 AM
Venerable Mahanayakes, I suggest that you would also emphasise the freedom and right to practice other religions of other communities in SL
ranjit demel Saturday, 23 March 2013 04:07 AM
as a christian,i try to follow and live according to the preachings of lord Buddha.,and i believe, i live a satisfied and happy life.i do hope in s.l. this race oriented Sinhalese Buddhism wont take the upper hand, because that would be the end of s.l. and probably the end of Buddhism in s.l..
Ranil Saturday, 23 March 2013 04:04 AM
Can you not include the mercedez in your future plans and many buddhist such as my self will start believing in the men covered in safron robes
Grace Saturday, 23 March 2013 04:03 AM
Need of the hour
Kapuwa Saturday, 23 March 2013 03:30 AM
Dear Respected Venerables,
It is a good and diplomatic move to explore status and possibilities of retaining/increasing followers legitimately. This is what should be done(conferencing, discussing) unlike the mad dogs on the road mating. I suggest, lord Buddhas noble way is the path to freedom, however i do not see preaching is up to the mark which is why people are deviating form religion. Because people who should preach and console followers are busy either in the parliament or on podium talking filth and yet creating disharmony, why not respected venerable's ponder more focus on such issues and who don't like to live Buddhas life be exempted from nikayas, hence the noble religion, peace and harmony will be reverted. I am not a Buddhist but i thought this could be what most are talking.
Uditha Karaputugala Saturday, 23 March 2013 03:14 AM
Good Move.
SL Saturday, 23 March 2013 03:04 AM
Good to hear. It’s about time that religious leaders understand what their real role for the society is. Politics and religion don’t go together. It is pointless to keep going back in history and pulling out what happened during ancient times. The dynamics were different. Today we see so many issues because each of us is trying to play someone else’s role. Religion should be a healer under all circumstances… not a provoker.
Meril Saturday, 23 March 2013 02:59 AM
Good move by the four nikayas. There'll be no need for a separate BBS if these 4 nikayas work together.
C. Soysa Saturday, 23 March 2013 02:21 AM
Siyalu Stathwayo (not only Buddhists) nidhuk wethwa, niroghi wethwa, suwapath wethwa!
shihan Saturday, 23 March 2013 01:55 AM
Religion should be synonymous with peace and kindness.
