Lankans arrested with foreign currency worth Rs.22 Mn

Three Sri Lankans aged 28, 34 and 38 were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) departure lounge this morning while attempting to smuggle out foreign currency worth Rs.22,106,331 concealed in their rectum.

Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini said the suspects residing in Matale, Jaffna and Negombo were bound to Singapore.

He said Customs officers confiscated the foreign currency consisting of 101,500 Euros and 37,000 Swiss Francs. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
