Government Minister and National Freedom Front (NFF) leader Wimal Weerawansa says India should not dictate terms to Sri Lanka. He said this responding to a journalist at a media briefing in Colombo today.
He also said the constitution would be changed in three stages, the first being changes made to the presidency.
“The other stages include changes to the electoral system and the formation of a Senate,” he added.

Governemnt should try to protect friendly reationship with India at any time without giving contreversial statements by using third parties. It sould be a official and diplomatic cohabitaion.

India is no longer in a position to dictate anything to Sri Lanka. It can only plead with Lanka for whatever they want.

How can they tell us what to do when they have mega problems. They have many insurgencies on there hand and a large portion of India is not under govt control. They have millions of poor people poorer than the poorest SriLankans and still they let those poor people rot and send aid to us. What hypocrisy. Lalith Wije

Do not try to fool people making useless remarks.

Mr Weerawanse, Are you confirming that India is Dictating us? You shouldnt even say such words in a forum. Sri lanka is a soverign country. You can say 'No one should interfere in our internal matters or something to that extend' This is purely due to lack of INTERNATIONAL RELATIONSHIP & DIPLOMACY. This is where Ranil is a master like his ex-colleagues Lalith/Gamini etc. They knew how to talk to the point stylishly and cleverly.

Does he have any evidence of India's dictating any terms to Sri Lanka?
Friday, 14 May 2010 02:30 AM
It should have been more appropriate if he stated that no country should dictate terms to Sri Lanka.

Before "Pacha-ayuda" tells India not to dictate terms to S.L., he should stop dictating to us. He tried to, when he said SF is disqualified to run for Presidency as a citizen not registered to cast his vote. He himself was not registered. The best joke is they say this more often than not.

Why don't you take wings to India and proclaim your opinion to the Indian officials like a real hero rather than shouting in hiding!

Why leave room for India, EU or the UN to dictate?
Do everything to the civilized world's norm, with regards to the constitution, human rights, press freedom and the minority ethnic communities' rights.
Lets put behind the past and give it a fresh start Mr. Weerawansa.
