Should not the Indian authorities be telling their own to refrain from breaking the law, instead of forcing the SL Navy and government to turn a blind eye to the misdeeds ?

Our countries should have devices on board to be able to track on radar or sattelite. Prevention is best.

So, ask them not to cross Sri Lankan waters, because the territory belongs to Sri Lanka.

ibadun Thursday, 30 April 2015 08:18 AM
yes, we have to deal this matter as humanitarian and livelihood dimensions, however the mind set of south Indian to be changed as they have been given that those area is a part of India and also these fishermen have been used by Big bosses for forceful fishing and drug traffic etc..First they have to work to change the above and at the same time they should prevent crossing IMBL , we can have physical identification and some virtual control as well such monitoring these trawlers by system so that they can be issued alert immediately if they closer the IMBL (live monitoring) SL should continue enforce law (arrest them) no shooting to be done as they are civilian they are not come here to fight (if our people cross they arrest and same can be done here as well, fair justice)

I think we need to take back all the weapons given to the military as there is no reason for us to have a fighting military. Are we for seeing fighting with India - Never. Would we ever fight with Maldives - Never. If the government does a good job, they have no reason to believe people would rebel against the government either. If the government does start to screw up, we the public has the strongest weapon, the vote. Once we devolve power to each area and the central government would only have national and international issues to deal with, they wil l be compelled to negotiate every situation like the Singaporeans rather than having to incur an unnecessary cost for military weapons There can be lots of things the military could do without touching a weapon.

Ponting Malli Wednesday, 29 April 2015 10:19 PM
Once and for all India should sponsor trawlers for their fishermen and ask them to go deep sea fishing. SL should insist on this without engaging in PUSWEDILLA threats.
