    worst scenario

    Anver Saturday, 20 November 2010 11:44 AM

From most of the comments not only on DM but from any common man with sense we could easily assess how much this man is regarded as their true hero.

    Naomi Saturday, 20 November 2010 11:50 AM

Keep him there so the nation can get on with the reconciliation process.

    amal Saturday, 20 November 2010 12:43 PM

back to cell..oh god..shouldn't this hero deserved to be in a palace? when we can see thug ministers are doing crazy things freely and have a wonderful life and this hero in pain..what we feel ..we really feel this is the miracle of Asia.

    Madain Saturday, 20 November 2010 12:55 PM

He and his mouth is a big threat to the civilized society. The WAR HERO died as soon as he wore the GARB of the POLITICIAN forced by JVP.

    Eli Saturday, 20 November 2010 01:23 PM

Naomi, i guess you have not lost a brother/ Sister/ Mother/ Father or anyone close in the war... thats why you are smug and have this typical un-grateful sinhales attitude towards the man who made sure you don't have worry about getting into a bus or going into the any part of the country without a bomb going off. Give credit where credit is due.

    anpan Saturday, 20 November 2010 01:36 PM

I am a Tamil and believe SF could have avoided many thousands of civilian deaths in Vanni. Nevertheless, I feel deeply saddened to hear what he is going through,,,it is very, very wrong to treat an ex Army Commander in this humiliating manner.

    kokiya Saturday, 20 November 2010 01:57 PM

the best for the country...the longer he stays there the good for the country.

    Vithanage Saturday, 20 November 2010 01:58 PM

    A good one!

    Vithanage Saturday, 20 November 2010 02:00 PM

    Please explain us how?

    Ranjith Saturday, 20 November 2010 02:20 PM

You live in your own world and people selected the correct leader and sent others to cells.

    RUWANI Saturday, 20 November 2010 02:50 PM

    Just shut up and wait.

    Naomi Saturday, 20 November 2010 03:12 PM

He may be a Miracle man to claim that he single handedly defeated the LTTE. "Ane mehama katha kiyana Modoyo innavada"

    raj Sunday, 21 November 2010 09:37 PM

he fought with LTTE. Now he is jail. If he knew that in advance, he would have had second thought.

    Anver Monday, 22 November 2010 12:08 AM

OK Ruwani, but you can't hide the stubborn facts.

    Dillon Sunday, 21 November 2010 03:28 AM

Of course Mangala is a saint(Salvation Army). Who said otherwise?

    tissa Sunday, 21 November 2010 03:47 AM

Yes he was a made a hero and then he thought by kicking off the ladder which helped him to climb to the summit of his carrier would put him at the apex of tri-forces

    tissa Sunday, 21 November 2010 03:50 AM

is it very good for an ex-commander to give an interview to a national newspaper disgracing the forces who fought with courage and bravery?

    tissa Sunday, 21 November 2010 03:51 AM

that's what all who bears your namesake like to believe

    Kumar Sunday, 21 November 2010 04:40 AM

Oneday those who have done this to him should pay the price for this.

    kugan Sunday, 21 November 2010 05:56 AM

he is so busier than the carrer he had.............tell him to check the roof window and door before his medicine

    malkanthi Sunday, 21 November 2010 08:35 AM

SF was never in power as a democratic leader. If he is in power today, he will apply the military rule, which is the only knowledge base he possess, people will worship MR. After he learns to humble himself during a time of training in whatever form, he should be fit to rule the country.

    Athula Sunday, 21 November 2010 08:42 AM

All those who gave their comments above for & against SF,must know, It was a joint effort of MR/SF/GOTTA & Tri forces won the war,it would'nt have been possible, otherwise, but now that dirty politics, and greed for power had drawn them apart, All these people had forgoten, the golden saying, "United we win, separated we fall" It will happen,Both MR & SF were greedy for power,

    Aliya Sunday, 21 November 2010 10:09 AM

SF is already paying for what he did. Anoma is visiting the kovils to find the son-in-law. So its pay time for the family.

gUL fERNANDO Sunday, 21 November 2010 10:28 AM

Kumar--unfortunatly that day will be only in dfeams. As SF also wanted either to kill or jail MR and co but now see the ultimate results.

    Surendra Sunday, 21 November 2010 10:49 AM

Eli, I lost two brothers during the war. One in 1996 and other in 2006. SF could have done nothing if the external pressure was not neutralized by MR & GR. If you want to see real war heroes go to Rana Viru sevana Ragama they have scarified their entire lives for our future. Unlike SF, he was guarded by 600 men and traveled by helicopter and lived in a concrete top house due to fear from air attacks. Remember SF was targeted right under his nose by a suicide attack not in the battle field.

    asha Saturday, 20 November 2010 10:20 AM

What goes around ,,Comes around ,,,?

Sri Lankan Public Saturday, 20 November 2010 10:31 AM

Why don't they change the leader even after the leader have 2 years jail term and expecting more in white flag case?

    siri Sunday, 21 November 2010 11:38 AM

Naomi - '..he single handedly defeated the LTTE' . Where did you pick up this rubbish? He never EVER said any such nonsense. This your imagination talking, and you know that!

    Saman/South Africa Saturday, 20 November 2010 10:33 AM

Hope he came with excise machine

    siri Sunday, 21 November 2010 11:46 AM

Any law bound citizen has the right to contest. Where in the constitution does it say that 'one should not contest against X or Y? There have been scores of cases where even family members have contested against each other at elections, and this was an election too. Kicking the ladder! My foot!! MR kicked the ladder called SF who won him the war.

    siri Sunday, 21 November 2010 11:49 AM

Gen. Shwe of Mianmar was never a democratic leader, he still isnt. But that didn't stop MR from keeping him as a cosy bedfellow! Birds of a feather..............

    bigsam Saturday, 20 November 2010 10:38 AM

That's right. Prison hospital is only for business tycoons who swindled millions from ordinary people - not for war heroes who rid the country from terrorism.

    Ranjan Saturday, 20 November 2010 10:40 AM

White Flag case is being heared in a civil court where the judges have always acted with honesty.

    Saman/South Africa Saturday, 20 November 2010 10:49 AM

Mangala and the Clan singing Baila now ,while SF suffering ,Man Gala is disgrace for Politics

    Fair N Square Saturday, 20 November 2010 10:54 AM

what comes around could go around too.

    Ranjit Saturday, 20 November 2010 10:55 AM

Miracle of Asia: war heros are in caged while the murderers are free.
