The Premier made this comment addressing his United National Party (UNP) special convention which adopted a resolution to work as a broader political front to pursue good governance and democracy.
He also promised power devolution to the island’s provinces as part of the reconciliation process with the minority Tamils.

CURRENTLY IT IS FUNCTIONING UNDER THE COMMOAND OF THE PRESIDENT AND GOVERNMENT , IF IT LEGALISED IT WILL BE GAZETTED WITH THE ENDORSEMENT OF ALL PARLIAMENT MEMBERS. PREVIOUSLY EVEN MINISTERS IN CURRENT GOVT TOO ARE ROBBERS WHO JOINTED FROM PREVIOUS REGIME , SO THEY DID NOT PERMIT THIS TO GAZETTE WITH APPROVAL OF ALL PARLIAMENT MEMBERS. HOPE IT IS CLEAR
