The health officers of the Colombo Municipal Council have destroyed 300kg of expired fruits, 40kg ice-cream, and 40 kg Kottu that were on sale in shops in Pettah over the weekend, Chief Medical Officer CMC Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam told Daily Mirror a short while ago. (YP)

The government has an obligation to extend the arm of authority with deterrent punishment envisaged to create a health - conscious environment especially in the widely congested areas where eating-places are vulnerable to spread infestious diseases.
