While claiming that it intends to relax or totally remove the ‘Emergency Regulations’ (ER) at the appropriate time, the government said that it was needed at this time for the smooth enforcement of the law.

The government intends to relax or totally remove the ‘Emergency Regulations’ (ER) at the appropriate time, when it considers the ER is not necessary to protect the law and order, cabinet spokesman Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said.

“It is true that the country is enjoying the dividends of peace following the crushing of terrorism. But do not forget there are remnants of the LTTE are still active and the issue of terrorism has not been fully addressed,’ Minister Yapa stressed. (Sandun A. Jayasekera)

Calistus i am with you on this 100%. The ER is also know as emergency room in hospitals and the present government use this emergency room each time to hide behind when it does anything it wants and put the blame on LTTE and national security. If as per our honorable leader we are free of terrorism then why do we need ER. ER came to be because of terrorism now its not there then whats the point of ER.
