Embilipitiya clash: police report tomorrow

Police Chief N.K. Illangakoon has instructed Sabaragamuwa Province DIG, C.D. Wickramaratna to hand over the final investigation report in to the death of the youth in Embilipitiya tomorrow (18).

Police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said the Police was investigating the death of the 29-year-old, Sumith Prasanna Jayawardana, directed by DIG Wikramarathna.

The Police Chief ordered an investigation into the alleged brawl between the police and a group in Embilipitiya which resulted in the death of Jayawardana.(DS)

    Why is this investigation done by the Police, when the police themselves are suspected perpetrators? This investigation needs to be done by an independent body such as the HRC or even better by a foreign independent organization such as the AHRC.
