An anonymous caller who had called the UNP Secretary Tissa Attanayake had warned him to be cautious over an attempt to harm his life, said the Cinnamon Gardens Police to the Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday.
Sergeant Ajith Mendis of the Cinnamon Gardens Police filing a report in court submitted to the Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli that the Chief Security officer of Tissa Attanayake complained to the Police that an anonymous caller who called to the mobile phone of Tissa Attanayake had warned him to be cautious as there was an attempt to kill him.
Mr Mendis submitted that when the Chief Security officer Vijitha Kumara Jayasinhe inquired from Tissa Attanayake over the alleged charge he had told Mr Jayasinghe that he received the call around 5.40 pm on September 3. Mr. Attanayake had asserted that he had been called on August 22 from the same telephone number and warned him. Mr Attanayake said that person stammered in broken English.
The Police informed the Magistrate that they had recorded the statement of Mr. Tissa Attanaye and would file a further report in court on their investigations into the case. (T. Farook Thajudeen)
