Counsel Asela Rekawa today appeared before the Colombo High Court and informed the Court that Dhanuna Tillekaratne the first accused of the Hicorp case had given instructions to him to represent him in Court.

The counsel informed Court that he had received instructions from Dhanuna Tillekaratne from a foreign country and that he was not aware of Dhanuna’s whereabouts.

Senior State Counsel Damith Totawatta told Court that the prosecution would not object to the matter.

Accordingly, the High Court granted permission to defense counsel to appear on behalf of the first accused Dhanuna and advised to take the responsibility of the entire matter. (Daily Mirror online)

Dhanuna may be a important person for his wife, parents and his in laws but has no significance to the country. It is unfortunate this is in public domain. This only gives something for the people to talk about though it has no relevance to them at all.

If Dhanuna is convicted by the COURTS with a jail sentence, the lawyer appearing for him should be jailed until Dhanuna is caught and jailed.

Sounds a bit fishy..... the Counsel does not know where he is???? Is he still hiding - I am sure he is in Sri Lanka. When the colleague gives in Dhanuna knows its bad for him and lots of unwanted information will come out.... Is he Counsel saying the truth????
