Amazing City of Colombo. A small miracle . City by the sea under water. Congratulations Colombo Muncipal Council you have done it again. No proper drainage system . Unbelievable!

After last floods they started to clear canals etc. ..and some ministers stated that flood problem is solved.
Urban Hydrology is a separate subject and this problem of disposal of rainfall runoff has to be tackled scientifically. The capacity of storm water disposal system is not sufficient to current urban developments. More Buildings, concrete, roads mean more runoff. No exposed soil to absorb rain water. Unfortunately no one cares/understands.

If Colombo gets flooded like this after the much talked about Las Vegas is opened, wonder what the rich tourists who come for gambling and prostitution think of the place.
Panigawatte Friday, 12 November 2010 08:48 AM
A better drainage should be revised to avoid all these natural fllod. Instead of promoting casino , Sri Lanka needs better roads with drainage systems to avoid all these stagnant water.
Bala S Friday, 12 November 2010 12:13 PM
Guys do not panic. This is God's answer to clean the city of corruption. All excess money will be gambled at the new Casinos coming up. God bless Sri Lanka.
