    Charitha Sunday, 07 November 2010 06:11 PM

Lets understand one thing. Nothing in this world will satisfy everyone and evrything. Evrerything has advantages and disadvantages. Lets be more possitive, if you want to develop this country.

    Saman Sunday, 07 November 2010 08:29 AM

    JVP Janatha vipatthi peramuna

asoka abeywardena Monday, 08 November 2010 06:24 AM

    Rajitha Sunday, 07 November 2010 08:37 AM

    well, that would be great!

    Henry Sunday, 07 November 2010 07:17 PM

Not only they should legalise gambling, they should also legalise prostitution with safe houses to ply their trade.

    Rajitha Sunday, 07 November 2010 08:39 AM

that would be great if it's true!

    Concerned Monday, 08 November 2010 06:39 AM

How long will the Lord hold back his judgment?

    Anushka Sunday, 07 November 2010 08:39 AM

No surprise here. That's the only thing the JVP can do after all - take to the streets and create traffic jams. They just want to stop the country from developing so that they can continue to benefit from the people's poverty.

    LKBOY Sunday, 07 November 2010 08:45 AM

@hearth poverty and casino's two ends! opening up red light areas does not go ahead with his own beliefs! Do you think our M R knows what he is doing or saying? from one side trying to ban everything and other open everything...........

kumara soysa Sunday, 07 November 2010 08:10 PM

We are a (supposed to be) a Budhict nation! The Sanga wants to ban killing of animals and control liquor. BUT, if the economy calls for it, then..... that's a little bit OK!!

    Naveen Sunday, 07 November 2010 09:01 AM

The GoSL should go ahead with this plan, with effective checks on immoral activities, before our neighbors grab the opportunity. In South Asia, other than SL, only Nepal has Casino clubs. This move will bring in huge revenue and job opportunities for the Lankan youth. Once this move comes into fruition, there will be lots of wealthy tourists flocking to SL. JVP need not shed crocodile tears for you as they have been the reason for the deaths of several thousand youth in the past.

Periyanna Prasanna Sunday, 07 November 2010 08:31 PM

i always want to go to LV , finally its coming to Sri Lanka

    RanFerdi Sunday, 07 November 2010 09:04 AM

Well Its a good act.. We need to have everything available openly to adults.. To select what they want to do and not do is their own option. Good move by the government. But I have one concern. If they wanted to these things in power then why they got collaborated with Hela Karumaya and instigated project such Mathata Thita.. Somehow their strategy has become success, now who opposed these things vehemently are now in their side and cant open their mouth.. Good Work from MR...& The Group..

    Jason Sunday, 07 November 2010 09:00 PM

Keep your racist overtones to yourself!
The above comment is coming from a SRI LANKAN!!!

    samantha Sunday, 07 November 2010 09:19 PM

    Good opportunity for colombo Girls

    pd Sunday, 07 November 2010 09:09 AM

This is a good move by GOSL. Even in certain gulf countries now they are allowing casinos by separating them in man made islands etc.. as this is all revenue. Yes Srilanka being a Buddhist country we have certain values but we also must give freedom for people to decide what is best for the country we cannot ignore foreign revenue. In Pakistan where Liquor is banned a non muslim visitor can order to his room & they manufacture the stuff there ( anyone tasted Rawalpindi beer??). JVP idiots are no better than LTTE. They have done far more worst crimes incl murder. At least now they cud take to the streets but during JVP curfew in 1989 we cud not look out of our window. Hypocrites!!

    meranchi Sunday, 07 November 2010 09:14 AM

that is going to be a big disaster many crime take place due to large amount of money involve .....

Kalu Sudda Sunday, 07 November 2010 09:32 PM

It is better for Colombo to be lit in red colored bulbs than being stained by the colour of red JVP blood.

Oyage Podi Guru Sunday, 07 November 2010 09:23 AM

America has some good things to emulate, but I think Las Vegas casinos with the criminal element and its retinue are not what this country wants or needs! How about a South Asia Disneyland? The one nearest is in Hong Kong.

    don Sunday, 07 November 2010 09:36 AM

They must against this also, otherwise it's not JVP. Useless fellows

Poverty is a good weapon for all greedy politicians in Sri Lanka. It is not only for JVP.

    Hadi Monday, 08 November 2010 03:06 AM

At this rate prostitution will become an honourable institution in Sri Lanka.

Oyage Podi Guru Monday, 08 November 2010 08:07 AM

    Ban bread, bring brothels?

Desha Priya Monday, 08 November 2010 03:09 AM

I am amazed at the comments I read. It is this short-sightedness that has driven our country to where it is!

With gambling comes poverty, becuase for ONE person to win / make money, TEN others have to loose!!!

Then, if prostitution is legalised, when your loved ones enter into that trade out of pleasure or necessity, would these same voices be heard?? Please note that the majority of people commenting here are men.

What about the diseases, the drug addictions, the breakdown of mariages, the destruction of families?

Are we ready for all these? To welcome 'Vegas' is to welcome all the baggage that comes with it.

    chaminda Sunday, 07 November 2010 11:29 AM

    International vegetarian casinos !!

    Nilupul Sunday, 07 November 2010 11:52 AM

I’m confused. Personally, I don’t mind Colombo becoming a LasVegas, but I don’t understand how one could do that by selling ‘Mathata thitha’ and Banning ‘Akon’. That’s why I say, that this government doesn’t have a PLAN on how we should develop this country. They try little of Singapore here Thailand there and at the same time preach about ‘Grama rajya’ and Buddhisum!

    chami Monday, 08 November 2010 03:56 AM

Not only that hell bent on eradicating pornography.

    sw Sunday, 07 November 2010 12:10 PM

Colombo will be full of junkies, prostitutes and gamblers, every thing will be legalized.

Bacarat Mama Sunday, 07 November 2010 12:11 PM

Gambling is bad, dear President please stop it!.

    chami Monday, 08 November 2010 04:01 AM

You will soon find some private universities on specializing on sex education.

    Kamiss Sunday, 07 November 2010 12:16 PM

From the economic angle it may be good, but it could lead to increase in drug trafficing, prostitution and all other vices found in Las Vegas. Surely will have some effect on our country's culture.

    waz Monday, 08 November 2010 04:07 AM

the JVPhas nothing else to do.. they always ahve to appose some tthing... the Government is making this move to take the contry into the 21th century.. is will be a good move, more revenue into the country.
