All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association President N.K. Jayawardena said if they don’t reach an understanding with the Government by this week they will increase their prices by at least Rs. 5.

“If we don’t meet with the Government and the Ministers and if they cannot give us a tax concession then we will be forced to increase the price by at least Rs. 5,” Mr. Jayawardena said.

The association is trying to meet the Minister of Trade in this regard and the failure to remove a tax on bread Mr. Jayawardena warned would result in an increase in bread prices definitely by this Friday. (Sumaiya Rizvi)
