The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) today condemned the attack which took place at Weliweriya and said the problem could have been resolved in a much more civilized manner as there was ample time to resolve it.

BBS General Secretary Ven. Galaboda Aththe Gnanasara Thera told a news conference that they were unhappy over what happened at Weliweriya last week.

“Sri Lankans have a right to protest and conduct protest rallies. The protesters also have a responsibility to cause minimum inconvenience to the public. However when considering this attack we are wondering whether this is the method the Government is adopting to solve people’s issues,” the monk said.

Speaking about the investigations that are taking place regarding this issue, he said the investigations should be independent regardless of who was conducting the investigations. (JP & LSP)

He is the advisor to the Defence Secretary, I heard a voice cut broadcast over the radio wherein he condemned the protesters for being on the road with families and children carrying mats and pillows. He is also reported to have advised the Defence Secretary to get the protesters cleared. What action did he take to find a solution to this grave situation. How can he find time to solve these matters as he is busy finding faults with the Muslim community and looking after the well-being of cattle..
