An angry UNP Puttalam District Member of Parliament (MP) Range Bandara has written to UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka over the latter’s comments about Bandara’s mental state and allegations that he had ‘ulterior motives’.
In a letter which was also sent to the Chairman of the UNP, Gamini Jayawickrama Perera and the Deputy leader of the party, Karu Jayasuriya, Bandara said that Attanayaka had no right to comment about his mental state as only a certified doctor could comment about that matter and not someone who pretended to be a doctor.
In addition to this, Bandara also answered to allegations made by Attanayaka in interviews in which he had said that Bandara had ulterior motives.
Bandara replied saying that his political goal for the past 16 years was to establish a government for the people.
In the letter, Bandara also questioned why the working committee had not brought up the subject of disciplinary action regarding his assault incident on two occasions in which the working committee had met after April 23. (Daily Mirror online)

No party or government can work efficiently and successfully when there is greed for personal power and hidden agendas. Let the UNP now open up a can of worms and then have a complete cleansing.

Rw is in fool's paradise.

Can the UNP please appoint a SECRETARY who was educated in a good school, who is well articulated and has a backbone.
Tuesday, 01 June 2010 04:54 AM
Thomas you are right Tissa is the cause of the downfall of the UNP

I think its only fair by Bandara that an inquiry be held, and the miscreant punished accordingly. There should be justice. Otherwise it will end in a crossover.

UNP leadership should take responsibility on present deteriorating condition of the party! what is RW doing?? just dreaming of becoming the Executive President some day!
Tuesday, 01 June 2010 04:05 AM
Tissa is a curse to the UNP. he must say good bye before Ranil does.
Tuesday, 01 June 2010 03:40 AM
Believe there is a mass conspiracy to dilute the party. We see allegations, counter allegations, being at each other, but no constructive effort undertaken to strengthen the party in the march forward in regaining power to govern.
Tuesday, 01 June 2010 03:23 AM
Action should be taken to resolve and bring Justice
Monday, 31 May 2010 02:12 PM
I believe Tissa is contributing to the breakup of the grand old UNP. Sad situation.
Monday, 31 May 2010 06:56 PM
It is obvious Bandara is contemplating a long jump and making all this fuss to justify his action.
Monday, 31 May 2010 06:47 PM
He will cross over. There is no unity in UNP now. leadership has been so weak. when leadership becomes weak any thing can happen to any place, organization or even country. time has come to change UNP leadership, 20 million people are watching stupid things happening in UNP
Monday, 31 May 2010 05:50 PM
Tissa should have been more careful in expressing facts.
Monday, 31 May 2010 05:10 PM
when you have a weak leader these things will continue. no respect, no decipline, no rules, what a situ in grand old party
Monday, 31 May 2010 04:56 PM
Sad situation. Openly criticizing each others. what is happening to this party.
Monday, 31 May 2010 04:39 PM
Apparently, Bandara, is making excuses to cross over. he openly declared the concern of the president whn he was hospitalised. No party will over look an incident like this. there must be something deep. We only see the tip of the ice berg.
Monday, 31 May 2010 04:35 PM
Very sad how Bandara is treated - he alone took on the mighty Thalagoya in Anamaduwa when no UNPer dared to go there.
Well that is the usual Karapincha treatment.
Monday, 31 May 2010 02:20 PM
Day by day the UNP party getting worse and worse.
Please reorganize the party.
