Two Nigerian nationals and a Sri Lankan were arrested by the Chilaw Police for sending fake texts messages to gullible persons stating that they had won a car from a lottery and cheating them of cash and other belongings.
The police said that the suspects were arrested together with Rs. 70,000, US Dollars 2,450, a fake passport and 4 mobile phones.
The Chilaw police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

So many foreign nationals in the recent past caught for fraud and robbery. We are attracting the wrong tourists.

Sri Lankans should be aware of these Nigerian scam artists who have bilked millions from people in other nations, with these fraudulent emails saying they can get their hands on money by sending some themselves. Old trick.

Maybe you're right Lobo. But then we've soured relations with the western tourists because they're all "conspirators". Seems like we're reaping the benefits of our choices.
