The Post Master General has requested the public to refrain from sending mails and packages to European countries via air-mail, till the smoke and ash from the Icelandic volcano reduces and air travel resumes.
Speaking to Daily Mirror, the Post Master General M K B Dissanayake said that with the cancellation of flights to European countries, air mail services had been disrupted and sending of these packages through air was difficult.
“We request the public to abstain from sending mails and packages to Europe through the air mail services, due to the circumstances that persists in the European region,” he said.
He did however say that the public could use the sea-mail service as it is not affected by the eruption of the volcano.
