Abandon this project. This is a wholesale sell out to China.

Even if the Port City Project is a totally worthless one from Sri Lanka’s point of view now that it has come a long way a responsible and professional Government has to look at the situation from an international perspective politically and financially. It’s beneficial in the long run to act with patience in order to keep the equilibrium in all spheres.

The concept and project is not bad but the terms are atrociously in favour of China and the damage to environment very serious. Also no infrastructure on waste disposal and utilities. This is not the time for this when there is so much needed in the villages like small bridges and minor roads for better quality of lfe for common folk.

Best way to prevent occurrence of this kind of things in the future is for the people to elect intelligent people with good hearts and brains to run the country.

However much we don’t like this project now that it has commenced constructions, the government has to act professionally. Just because the previous people made blunders for their personal financial gains, a responsible government should keep to that standard. All international financial factors, social and political issues and most importantly environmental impact issues should be studied in great detail before the green light is given for the go ahead of the project.

Do you have an alternative ? The Chinese Gov. is the biggest investor in Sri Lanka

The project should be abandoned altogether as it is a real sell-out of the country to the Chinese who will also have power over the sea around the port city where they will have a free hold land to do whatever they want. There should be a curse on MR and his family for this great betrayal whilst at the same time calling themselves "patriots"
