Writ petition filed in AC against death sentence

A writ petition was filed in the Court of Appeal today seeking an interim order preventing the implementation of the death sentence.

Meanwhile, the Prisons Commissioner gave an undertaking to the court that no death row inmate would be executed until the end of next week.

    Preventing the implementation of the death sentence after the President has sanctioned it amounts to Contempt of Court which gave the judgement of death sentence. So how can a court of law give such a judgement to prevent it. If death sentence is bad, then take it out of the SL law.
