Residents living by the Kelani River and belonging to the Divisional Secretariats of Kolonnawa, Kaduwela, Wellampitiya, Kelaniya, Biyagama, Sedawatte, Dompe, Hanwella, Padukka and Avissawella were instructed to immediately evacuate to safer places, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

DMC this type of armchair instruction is useless.Where do you expect them to go? Have you identified any public building for them to go. Be practical.
