Two brothers aged 47 and 54 who had attended their mother's funeral, died after consuming a suspected poisonous spirit at Keenadeniya in Mirigama.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said four persons have consumed a bottle of spirit which was given to them by a neighbour on Sunday night.
Three persons were rushed to the hospital, but two of them - both brothers - died on admission.
The Mirigama Police are conducting an investigation into this suspicious death, DIG Rohana said.
