The tipper truck driver who was arrested for running over Police officers in Hakmana, had been remanded till July 23 on charges of murder, attempted murder, causing severe injuries to officers on duty and reckless driving, the Police said.
They said the suspect was produced in the Matara Magistrate’s Court today.
Three Police officers who were on duty at a roadblock on the Matara-Hakmana Road were run over by the tipper truck.
A 36-year-old Constable of Police, a resident of Walasmulla, was killed in the accident.
Two Sergeants were critically injured and are still undergoing treatment at the Matara Hospital.
The driver of the tipper truck was arrested at Ranala, Hungama several hours after he fled the scene.

This is the fault of the Police themselves. These heavy vehicles including buses speed over 80 kmph on arrow roads mostly overtaking in front of on coming traffic. They simply don't care and the Police are so worried of cars crossing the straight line and ignore the heavy vehicles

So how come these same charges did not happen when Kusal Mendis arrogantly ran over an innocent man and managed to clear the whole case with 1 million.
