Subjects and institutions coming under the purview of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe were removed following his own advice, UNP MP Ajith P Perera said today.

"Subjects and institutions that are coming under the purview of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe were removed following his own advice and it is a part of government's plan to go on a new journey," State Minister Perera said at a media briefing this morning.

"We have decided to go on a new journey together with President Sirisena from April 5 2018 and everyone will be able to see the changes we are going to make,"he added

Responding to a question raised by the journalists as to how the UNP could go along with President Sirisena when difference between the latter and former are growing, the State Minister said there will be no issue on that as Mr. Sirisena was UNP's candidate at the last Presidential Election. "President Sirisena is our President," he sad.(Yohan Perera)

Very good Ajith. I hope and wish the President too thinks like this and has not forgotten how he got elected, who voted for him and, most importantly, what he promised the voters (and the late Ven Sobitha) to get elected.

In other words, you are admitting that RW made a bad decision to take them on in the first place and agrees that he had made a mess of it. So he advised the President to take them away from him before more damage is done.

Minister need not try and make excuses for his PM. That is demeaning. Let us see how this 'new journey' works out. so far progressively Sri Lanka's assets have been sold to foreign nations. Only a few more to go till the entire nation is owned by foreigners. An utter shame. So No one need hold their breath! MM

A stupid person who does not know what he is talking about. i think Ajith P Perera has to take over the job of looking after baffols

    rajg Sunday, 01 April 2018 04:59 PM

Indeed, President Sirisena owes his victory to the UNP, so he is the UNP President. The SLFP did not support him. If he goes against the PM, he is going against himself

    Hubert Sunday, 01 April 2018 05:07 PM

SLFP created by an opportunist it cursed and disunity among ethnic groups created resulting a war this party must be abolished

    P.P. Jeganathan Monday, 02 April 2018 11:21 AM

Are you still having confidence on the president? At least try to have your own government in future. The biggest mistake Ranil did was making a President from SLFP and he has reaped the benefits up to now. Stop building castles in the sky.
