Singer Umariya arrested over accident in Rajagiriya

Popular singer Umaria Sinhawansa has been arrested by the Welikada Police this evening following an accident near the Rajagiriya flyover.

Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said that Umariya's vehicle collided with a three wheeler causing injuries to its driver.

The driver of the three wheeler has been admitted to Colombo National Hospital.(DSB)

Sena, if victim hospitalized, then other driver will be in custody until victim released from hospital!! That's the law!! Best thing give bribes to victim and get him out of hospital within 24hrs, and or bribe the police and hospital staff!!

As a driver, every accident is preventable if you are driving the car it's your duty to pay attention don't blame others for it. Ask yourself this question could I as a driver prevent this accident the answer is yes pay attention around while you drive having a driving license is not a must it's a privilege when you have a driving license you take full responsibility im not saying it's your falut but it could have be prevented . Dont drive like the three wheelers your better then them.

You can question the driver first, without arresting them if the accident is not fatal. If the driver is at fault, then take into custody when the accident is fatal.

In Sri Lanka if a pedestrian or motor cyclist is injured by a automobile the driver is automatically arrested. This was not the case previously. It follows a police circular which came in being a few years ago. This is not right. In countries like USA Canada or UK even if a person dies the driver is questioned and arrested later if there is evidence he or she was at fault. Time somebody questioned this practice.
