Fairly heavy thundershowers were reported at few places in the Sabaragamuwa Province this afternoon, while moderate thundershowers were reported at a few places in the Central Province, the Meteorology Department said.
Light showers and thundershowers were reported from elsewhere except the Northern, North-Central and the Eastern provinces.
Highest rainfall of 66.9mm was reported from Dethanagala in the Ratnapura District. Surface wind was calm or variable in direction.
Day maximum temperature values were approximately three degrees above normal at Galle, Hambantota, Jaffna, Ratnapura and Vavuniya; approximately two above normal at Anuradhapura, Batticaloa, Colombo, Katugastota, Katunayake, Maha-Illuppallama, Nuwara-Eliya and Puttalam.
Day maximum temperature values were a little above or about normal elsewhere.
Night minimum temperature were approximately three degrees above normal at Anuradhapura, Colombo, Katugastota, Nuwara-Eliya, Ratmalana and Vavuniya; approximately two above normal at Batticaloa, Galle, Maha-Illuppallama, Mannar, Puttalam and Ratnapura.
Night minimum temperature values were little above or about normal elsewhere.
The maximum temperature of 37 centigrade was reported from Vavuniya. Minimum temperature of 14.10 centigrade was reported from Nuwara-Eliya.
Total atmospheric water vapour content (humidity) was high. Atmospheric pressure values over Sri Lanka were about average. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
