The SLFP Central Committee met at President’s official residence in Colombo last night and all SLFP ministers decided to boycott today’s Cabinet meeting.
The decision was taken in protest against the UNP Ministers who were continuously insulting the SLFP ministers as well as the UNP demand for the SLFP MPs who voted in favour of the No-Confidence Motion against the Prime Minister to resign, a senior minister said.
Accordingly, as a courtesy, other SLFP Cabinet ministers will also boycott the today’s cabinet meeting with the 16 Cabinet Ministers who voted in favour of the no-confidence motion.
Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa had proposed during the meeting that the SLFP ministers should quit the government and the proposal was seconded by Minister S.B. Dissanayake. The majority were later of the view that they should quit the government. A full report compiled by 16-Cabinet ministers was also submitted at the CC meeting last night.
At that time, the President has said that without rushing into any decision, a collective decision should be taken as a party and expressed the importance of taking collective decisions by all 41 SLFP MPs.
The SLFP Central Committee is to meet next Wednesday and take a decision on whether they would quit the government or not. (Ajantha Kumara Agalakada)

Let them quit. It'll be a blessing in disguise as the county could be ruled by a single party without any conflicts.

Yes, they should quit as you say. They say UNP ministers are insulting them. Are they not aware that most Sri Lankans too are insulting them? Don't they know that they attract insults when they behave in such a despicable manner!

It looks as if President is behind all these and for him the party is more important than the government. Otherwise, why has he said to take a collective decision as a party, while not getting his people to work as a collect bunch with UNP in the government?

Guesses were correct SLFP will never make a decision. Postpone the decision for next week and then appoint another committee to extend. Who is now stopping the working of the Government without attending the cabinet meetings? Its the SLFP group under President. Voters should not forget this at the forth coming elections.

Boycott amounts to resignation or vacation/abandonment of the office of the Minister. So they are gone. RW has to decide if he could form a government

Shameless fellows ! After voting for the NCM, still want to be Ministers. They have no moral right and they seem to have no conscience. The President to seem to be playing a double game to survive as SLFP leader.

Ranil plays a double game by giving concessions to Mahinda and his clan.

Country cannot go on in this manner. Have a General Election and let the People Elect a Party of their choice. Enough is Enough.
nirmalath Tuesday, 10 April 2018 09:07 AM
They should be sacked as they wanted to boycott. When they bring no-confidence and no intelligent person will molly coddle them. They should resign from the cabinet with decorum.

your action is right , why, it is your no-faith to PM who is clearly exposed as part and parcel of central bank pillage.but why take step back to leave the government,if you leave now, in next election you definitely be selected(but doubtful as on SLFP ticket) if notleave the government ,then people think of you differently
